Title: Next Years Home Kit?
Post by: Bob the skutter on April 16, 2017, 04:29:22 PM

Thoughts?

I did like this paragraph in the piece.

"Honestly, they should just leave it plain – the Geordie stripes haven’t looked that good in 20 years – though, knowing Mike Ashley, it’ll probably have a huge advert for scratch cards and legal highs on the front of it by the start of next season."

Absolutely love the design. Fantastic if the Wonga logo won't feature on it too, would get one of these for sure and I haven't had a toon top since 12/13.

Likewise could be back on my birthday list this year without the wonga connection.

Knowing that reprobate, he'll probably announce a new sponsorship deal with Dabiq, Islamic States official glossy magazine (seriously, there is one - look it up).

(Or Paedo's Monthly - which should please UA...)

Awful collar.

Do we have a clue who will sponsor us next season?

Awful collar.

I think the collar makes it!

I quite like it. The collar gives it a retro look.

Should be one main colour with a white wing tip.Or no white.
Half & half looks odd. But 125 years im guessing they want that early jersey look.

very nice, have not brought a  modern {tacky adverts} shirt in ages but would buy that.
i have many retro ones though including 1976 blue away one, really trying to find the yellow away one to, from the mid 70s, only one i saw was £500 on e bay! hope the new design looks as good as the pics.

Those ones you mentioned there do usually go for high prices because of their scarcity.

got the 76 blue one off e bay very cheap and ive never seen another even with 52000 Geordies at sjp, remember going to watch us play at peterborough{where in live} in 1977 in fa cup and the team had that yellow and green away kit, wanted that top ever since but not at £500!

I know they were Umbro not Admiral, but a couple of years ago, ITV4 did a program on the history of Admiral replica kits and how they've influenced replica kit buying history world wide.

There were people there who, as a hobby, collect all the Admiral replica kits. They all said, genuine 70's replica kits, no matter the manufacturer, in excellent condition are really hard to come by, which is why they go for the prices they do.
The holy grail being Coventry Citys 1970's chocolate coloured away kit. None of the passionate collectors, at the time of the programme, had managed to track down either an adult shirt or an affordable shirt.

Really like the look of that one for sure .  To me it's a proper Toon shirt with B and W stripes recent times its been panelling and not with the toon tradition.  Last one I have was the 2011-12 one when it was Northern Rock.  Agree with my fellow magpie about the best looking shirt since 95-96.

Last one I bought was the 2009-10. Would consider this one if I was younger. Too old for replica tops now.

Why limit yourself? Understandable if you just didn't want to wear football tops, but why "too old" for them? Pretty systematic way to live, no?

I'll be 50 in a few months bud. Not think thats a bit long in the tooth for replica tops?

I understand mate, I just don't think anyone should ever think of themselves 'too old' to do anything really. But fair point, I don't wear football tops often myself and i'm 24.

I have every one since about 1990 - never wear them apart from odd time round the house but always buy them to add to my collection!
Do usually wait till they go in sale at end of season tho

I have heard a computer networking firm are interested in sponsoring Newcastle United, one firm in particular that specialise in Server Message  Blocks seem rather keen.

Stunning design that leave it sponsorless and for me it would be a top seller.  its a "traditional " Toon shirt.

Definitely getting this one

Biggest deal in our history, top ten in the prem and no stadium naming rights. Does look s*** but could've been a lot worse.

Agree with that grogsy.
glad to see the 95-97 shirt getting so much love - and agree. That split opinion when it first came out though. Only home strip that was bad for me was the 97-99 cheap looking, shield, round collar, piece of junk - its almost like they knew we were going to be midtable mediocrity for 2years, after five class seasons.
Fan of the blue involvement - first came in 90-92s home kit, think of it as blue-star dna or a homage to it. And the calligraphy, for personal reasons, but it also looks cool.
