Harsmit - thats the problem mate - the desperate need for points is putting more pressure than there should be on these games coming up.  You say 5 from 9 - I think realistically we need 6 from 9 to get a bit of gap up - goal difference works in our favour so 6 from 9 effectively becomes 7 from 9 and puts us 4 bad results away from the drop all going well.

As for Stoke - considering they are a team half made up of SAFC 'rejects' they are a difficult team to play home or away.  Our confidence is low, there is no belief and an obvious fear that reminds me of the worst days under Keane or MickMac.  Stoke at home should be a game we are looking at and saying '3 points' if things go to plan.  Right now I'd be happy with a draw.  We know with Bent there are goals in him alone, but Stoke can score goals as well as concede and we concede goals for fun.  If we are going to beat Stoke, we have to score at least 2, because I don't think they'll not score against us.

part-timer - please note I said failing to get 5 points from the next 3 games would give you a worrying run in. I don't think there is any real danger of relegation, unless somebody loses their bottle and ditches Brucey in which case the wheels may come off depending on who replaces him.

One good win will come along and will be the catalyst that sees you pull clear to safety, not a quality season by any measure though.

Stoke will kick the s*** out of them. They are a team who play with a lot of determination.

What's more likely is that they'll beat Portsmouth and get the result they've been looking for to take them "out of the mire", although they're not really in there anyway!

If thats not in the mire, along with being ONLY 4 points outside the drop zone, then nowt is!

Not strictly true though is it when you put it into context.  It's poor form but it isn't in the mire.  They have only won one in sixteen and yet they're still above Portsmouth, West Ham, Bolton, Wigan, Hull, Burnley and Wolves, with a goal difference of only -10 and a game in hand on 12th placed Blackburn.

They're not doing well but it'll take two or three more games without a win to put them in the mire - at the moment it's one win and they're out of it.

Yeah thats true, but one win is summit they've waited for since the Arsenal game in November so it's not as if it's a given!

Talk to any mackems and they'll tell you, they are well in the mire.

Long may it continue aswell

That depressing bunch of cockends always say that!  Apart from the week after a win when it's "we might be able to sneak into the European places"

They are really struggling but will probably beat Portsmouth. I think they are lucky this season that there are some really bad teams in the Premier League - the likes of Pompey + Wolves, so they should be fine whereas in other seasons they could have really been embroiled in a relegation battle. Chances are that they will get a win against Portsmouth and that should catapult them on for more wins because in all honesty they do not have a bad side.

I'm not even sure that Wolves are a "really bad team", they play some good football but they just struggle to score.  To me they are better than West Ham, Burnley, Bolton and Hull but if you don't get the points, you can't stay up!
