I can see Benitez preferring Diame or De Jong to Merino.

Can Merino play as a playmaker?

he may do that, or drop hayden who he had to yell at on sunday for following shelvey to far forward all the time, merino can also play cb or lb, Lascelles was up to his daft tricks again against spurs, he was marking Kane on the half way line then as Son ran at the defence Lascelles was ball-watching and allowed Kane to get in behind him, by the time Son played Kane in Lascelles was about five yards away from him, fortunately Kane hit the post, just his lack of awareness and lapses in concentration are gonna cost us this season if he stays in the side.

We can't get beat at a stadium called The John Smith Stadium. We might as well get beat at Bents Park.

3-1 to Newcastle.

we went daryl murphy last season here, worked well his physicality and hold up. he may go mitrovic. badly need a LB too. still not convinced what perez does or offers.

1-1 no doubt, neither side has genuine quality

A win here would be great to take into the West Ham game, as I think we'll beat West Ham. Reckon Rafa will go with Merino in for Shelvey, however that gives us nothing off the bench really.

Wouldn't mind seeing the new lad up front, as I thought Gayle didn't look fit or sharp last week but we'll probably play on the break for most of the game so Gayle probably the obvious choice there.

2-1 for the toon.

This will be a tough one maybe a 1-2 win. Atsu was great the last day very energetic hopefully we can see Jacob Murphy and Aarons for a bit too. Merino looks the more likely to play in Shelveys spot

We played well against Spurs. Everybody has this down as a tough game but I think we will control the ball and win. We want our first 3 points. Atsu played well very decent signing. They have also got a good squad and will be buzzing after there first win but I predict 0-2 Nufc Perez and Gayle to score

Really dont see us winning this game, they strengthened we didnt. When we played them last season they passed us off the park at their ground they had 75% possession yes we did win 3-1 but that was lucky.

2-0 Huddersfield dont see us getting anything from this game
