I can see Benitez preferring Diame or De Jong to Merino.

Can Merino play as a playmaker?

to which you replied

I think this will be a close game which we will nick 2-1

So your reply to Omegaprimevkm was not relevant to his post or the question he asked, so I just wondered why you quoted his post in your reply ?  :?

Has to be a win, no excuses, we need to take points off the likes of Huddersfield as the teams you'd expect to see in the top 10 look far ahead of us :nonono:

My heart says a Newcastle win but my head says a draw, 1-1 :o

Ok pleased that's been cleared up and I hope Merino plays well if indeed he starts or comes of the bench. I don't know much bout him so cannot answer the question to be honest so why I used his quote I can't say other than having a senior moment😳😳

I would like to see Merino start just to see how good he is, if he can hit the ground running and pass well and create chances he may keep daft Shelvey out of the side even longer.

Won't be easy but one of the ones we need to win.

Looking at WBA yesterday, 2 games, 2 wins, zero conceded. That's more our approach. Hoping to see a disciplined hard working defensive result. Contain Huddersfields aggressive pressing and all action style. Then be a threat on the break with Gayle, Atsu, Perez and Richie.

2-1 Toon

Let's take a moment to appreciate our defensive depth. In seasons gone by, having 3 of our back 4 out injured as we do right now would have been catastrophic and would have resulted in Danny Simpson at centre back or something. Now we have genuine depth at the back and can field a fairly strong back 4 despite the injuries.

Great to not have a thread bare squad.
