Last season we played a lot of organised, defensive football, particularly away from home and sometimes at home to be honest. The opposition would have the ball a lot, but would struggle to break us down and then give up a few chances for us to capitalise.

The first two games this season we have set up pretty much the same. Seems ok in theory but we need a lot more from the front four if we are going to make it work. We need a lot more movement and pace when we actually win the ball. Perez is not the answer. Maybe Joselu is with Gayle in front?

Or switch Richie into Perez spot. He at least has the toughness, energy and movement to get on the ball. He will also defend in the system. Murphy and Atsu as the wide men who have real pace.

Merino made one mistake. That's all it takes in this division. He looks pretty comfortable on the ball and willing to get it. He has the physical attributes but we don't have the time to let him learn. We could do with bringing in an experienced premiership midfielder like Delph or Fernando from Man City

Either way, we need some more options up top. A pacey player who can compete with Gayle.

Can't blame Rafa. You can only piss with the c*** you've got. And our collective cordy is at present a shrivelled up acorn.

Exactly, if Benitez cant do anything with these players then who can? It seems no matter who the manager is, there just doesn't seem to be enough passion that matches the fans, sort it out
