Newcastle v Brighton
« on: December 28, 2017, 04:34:59 PM »
Tough game this one, but also a must win.

Looks like Hayden will be back. We did the double over them last season, but they beat us earlier this year and have a decent record against us generally. Overall it's 21 games, 9 wins, 3 draws, 9 losses.

Knockaert's a tricky bugger but the real star for them this year is Pascal Gross with 4 goals and 5 assists. As we know they're a very organised team with a decent defensive pair in Dunk and Duffy.

My one to watch in this match is Dwight Gayle. Got 3 in limited gametime this year and I honestly think given a chance he'll score.

Drat, I had it all typed up and you beat me to it.

Brighton have only won two of their 10 away games so far this season, only beating Swansea and West Ham, we go into the final game of 2017 on a horrendous run of five consecutive home defeats, we could still start the new year in the bottom three if palace draw tonight and we lose this game and bournemouth beat everton and west brom beat arsenal 3-0.   :D

Good to welcome little Chrissy back to SJP, still have a lot of time for him, a real gent and hope he starts winning more games (after this one ofcourse) and keeps them up and establishes himself as a bonafide premiership manager for years to come.

Possible team:

ELLIOT

YEDLIN   LASCELLES    MBEMBA    DUMMETT

SHELVEY    MERINO

RITCHIE    PEREZ    ATSU

GAYLE

Score prediction: 2-0

Brighton, Stoke, Swansea and Burnley. We have to target 7 points from those fixtures. A very big ask given our current run.

The good news is that we have players back from injury and suspension and Rafa has tightened them up like at the start of the season. Every game is tough in the PL for this Toon team and Brighton will be no different.

A tight game. Gayle to steal a goal and the win for Newcastle 1-0

Would be nice to end the year with a home victory. I think it will be tight but we will have enough to get a much needed home victory.

3-1 to us.

Got ganged up on at work today for not supporting Rafa. So i've taken another look at things.

Somebody on twitter pointed out that we've taken 1/36 points from the top 12 teams in the table and 17/24 from the bottom 8 (played West Ham twice). We did take the lead at Old Trafford, Stamford Bridge and against Leicester.

It seems we have won the right games so far?

We have home games coming against Brighton, Hudds and Swnsea for example. Win the right games and you stay up. Tomlrrow is a BIG GAME!

Perez might start today think he scored in both games against them last year. Hopefully Gayle and Atsu start with him.
